In this introductory class, we will design and print our own tea towels and yards of cotton. These projects are great for anyone looking to create art onto fabric and those who work with textiles, such as quilters, cloths makers, embroidery artists and sewists! Block printing is one of the oldest forms of art applied to fabric and paper to reproduce text, images and pattern. We will be using contemporary materials like softer linoleum for ease of carving and color fast paints for long lasting artwork. Our class is geared for beginners, with no previous experience necessary. It's also a great opportunity to refresh your knowledge or troubleshoot fabric printing in a peer environment. All of the materials will be provided and you are welcome to bring in fabric of your own to experiment! Led by our very own staff printmaker an Ana Laura Juarez.
