ABOUT THE CLASS:
Improv lessons aren't just for laughs!
In improv, an ensemble of performers comes together to devise and perform unique stories featuring complex, interesting characters in exciting, unusual situations. And they do it all in real-time, bringing scenes to life on the spot, never to be told the same way again.
To accomplish all of this requires strong listening and communication skills, self-confidence, self-awareness, positivity, trust, great teamwork, and of course, creativity.
All the things you'll get better at through our improv classes for adults.
From Fortune 500’s to NASA (no, really!), people are realizing that improv skills go far further than the stage. Being unafraid to fail, tuned in to others, unfazed by challenges, and ready to bring your best self to everything you do is what improv is all about! And The Laughing Academy's no-pressure, welcoming classroom environment rewards risk taking -- helping you achieve your goals while having a terrific time and making friends.
So whether you want to “tread the boards,” be your best in the boardroom, or just develop new skills while having a blast - The Laughing Academy's classes will open up your world to everything improv has to offer!
ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
SCOTT LEVY is delighted to be teaching at The Laughing Academy (where he recently performed as a member of the professional improv team BLUNCH!). Scott's career began in his hometown of Cincinnati Ohio, where his sketch group Monkeytime had a syndicated show that ran on various NPR-affiliate stations, leading to his longrunning gig as an announcer and music host on the late lamented WNKU.
In Chicago, Scott trained at Io (ImprovOlympic), where he performed on two Harold Teams, as well as The Second City, where in 2004 he was in the Second City Unhinged improv show, 'Every Old Man Was Once Young,' working alongside such luminaries as Jimmy Carrane, Nick Johne, and Liz Allen.
Since 2016 Scott has taught Improv, Writing, Stand-Up, Wellness, and Storytelling at Chicago's Second City Training Center.
A multi-published short story and comedy writer, Scott is currently working on two novels.
