This rotating six-week class is designed to strengthen your foundational sewing skills by guiding you through a single, wearable project each session. In our March/April session, you’ll make the McCall’s 7831 midi-maxi skirt, a versatile, classic piece that’s not only fun to create but also packed with essential techniques you’ll use time and time again.
Throughout the course, we’ll dive into the core apparel techniques that make garment sewing both rewarding and achievable. By working with a commercial pattern, you’ll gain confidence reading pattern instructions, understanding cutting layouts, and handling fabric for optimal results. You'll also learn foundational sewing techniques like seam finishes, pressing for crisp edges, and constructing details that bring your garment to life. These are skills that you’ll carry over to future sewing projects, whether you’re tackling your own blouse or venturing into more advanced apparel.
In this focused, supportive environment, you’ll gain more than just a beautiful new skirt; you’ll build a foundation of skills that will make your sewing journey smoother and more enjoyable. Join us, and let’s sew a skirt that reflects your style while empowering you with techniques that turn any pattern into a project you can be proud of!
Each six-week session will bring a new garment, making this an ideal way to grow your skills—and wardrobe—in just a few weeks at a time.
