Glow. in. the. Dark. Art. Camp! (Should we just stop there?) This popular week of camp is one for the record books, and we're already counting down the days! Using neon art materials and black lights, we will transform our studio into a glowing art gallery. In this super fun week of camp, we'll make our own glow-in-the-dark hats, glowing canvas paintings, sea creature, and so much more as we play with bright colors all week long! The best part? This week's artwork will stand out in the light with the bright neon colors, AND glow to brilliant other-wordly levels under black lights! Students will also go home with their own personal black light LED flashlight to show off their amazing work! A note about black lights: black lights emit UV-A light, which is the safest of all UV wavelengths. We will teach black light safety (not staring directly into the black light bulbs) and only spend short periods of time with our black lights on.
In our fifth summer of partnership with BMoCA, we can tell you, these camps are amazing! We spend our days in the stunning upstairs studio above the museum, and get to make art in community while being inspired by our surroundings and the contemporary artists' work on display. Each week includes a museum tour, and each day includes snack and break time outdoors on the large grassy lawns in front of the museum. Less than 6-to-1 student-teacher ratio, the most inspiring space, exposure to contemporary art while making amazing work of our own -- it doesn't get much better!
4-DAY CAMP: This 4-day camp runs Monday - Thursday, and is held at Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA).
ART SHOW: We invite parents, friends, and family to join us 15 minutes before pick up on Thursday for a celebration of our work from the week! [11:45am (morning camps) or 3:45pm (afternoon camps)]
BMoCA TOUR: During our camp week, we will enjoy a tour of the museum and take inspiration from our surroundings and the contemporary artists' work on display.
CENTRAL PARK / CIVIC AREA: Each day we take a break outdoors and walk to the grassy area just across the street from BMoCA. At least 3 adults (occasionally 2, if one adult takes a student back inside to use the restroom, for example) are with students when we are outside, and, as it is a large space, we always find a spot away from any other people in the park. If you're signing up for a Tinker @ BMoCA camp, parents should be comfortable with their student spending time in the park each day for our 20-ish minute snack break.
We do not issue refunds. PER CAMP:
