Class Experience

New in Summer 2025, Urbanity is teaming up with Minni to offer a full day summer program where movement, music, and art converge! Urbanity will be hosting movement led sessions in the mornings and Minni will provide their well-known art + design program in the afternoons.

Families may choose to enroll in the dance portion only (9am-1:30pm) using the link on this page. If you would like to register for the full day (9am-4:30pm), please also register for the second half of the day on the Minni website.

Extended day options are available for maximum care hours of 8am-5:30pm. The morning extended day is offered as an add-on when registering for the first half of the day on Urbanity’s site, and the afternoon extended day add-on may be added when registering for the second half on Minni’s website.

Urbanity’s program schedule offers:

  • Weekly dance program taught by diverse teaching artists in Boston, all who share the joy of dance while teaching the fundamentals.
  • Enrollment of no more than 10 artists per teacher per session.
  • Opportunity to explore a wide range of styles including contemporary, ballet, acro, jazz, yoga/mindfulness, improvisation, musical theater and hip hop.
  • Students will build strength and flexibility, problem-solving skills, spacial awareness, musicality, a stronger mind-body connection, and increased confidence.
  • Dancers will stay indoors but have plenty of space for an indoor dance playground post snack/lunch. There is a morning break for snack and noontime for lunch.
  • Dancers who are joining for the full day and continuing at Minni will be walked over to the Minni studio by Urbanity and Minni teaching artist chaperones (2–3 minute walk between studios). Students attending Minni’s afternoon program will need to be picked up at Minni’s South End studio at 4:30pm or 5:30pm.
  • Extended day (8-9am at Urbanity and 4:30-5:30pm at Minni) will include time for free play, student-led stations such as building, coloring, music-making, and games.
  • Informal performance 1-1:30pm on the last day of each week’s session for friends and family. A Zoom option will be available.

About Minni

Minni’s programs are designed by experienced art educators and early childhood development specialists with a deep belief in process and thoughtful play. Students are empowered to effectively communicate and explore their unique ideas through regular vocabulary, collaboration and structured class discussions. Both a space and a teaching philosophy, Minni creates an inspirational place to celebrate children’s open-ended, natural approach to invention, and supportive, trained educators to guide their technique and processes. Minni’s summer program includes rotating design themes, daily outdoor art-making (weather permitting), both individual and group projects, and scheduled field trips to select local businesses and studios.
