Class Experience

What is linocut? A linocut is a type of relief, or block print, and bears a lot of similarities to woodblock printing. Essentially, the artist carves an image into a linoleum (lino) block and what's left of the block is inked and printed. 


This year we will work on different subjects, printmaking techniques to help build and discover your own print making journey!

What To Bring

  • Linocut tools: I love the flex cut tools! you can buy them on Amazon
  • Softcut lino: Essdee Softcut lino comes in various pack sizes
  • Glass or plastic slab: I use glass kitchen workshop savers or palette paper
  • Ink roller or brayer: These Essdee rollers or similar.
  • Printing ink: I will supply that in class but if you have specific colors you like, please bring them!
  • Smooth cartridge paper or printmaking paper
  • Wooden spoon: For hand burnishing the inked up lino block onto the paper or Baren (you can buy that from Blicks)
  • Tracing paper
  • Pencils, pens and rubber
  • Sketchbook
