Three weeks of Organic Sketching plus 3 weeks of Art Foundations make for a fun and complete start or amazing addition for artists of any level! This pencil-only exploration takes you through basic organic methods of sketching and thinking, developing comfortable and practical techniques and includes exercises which will make sketching your favorite thing ever! Then it moves on to technical skills such as Basic Perspectives, Shading and Tone, and Basic Composition.

This 6-week workshop is full of original creative techniques, vital skills, and life-art lessons which were developed by and are taught by professional artist/Art Instructor Chris Maggio.

What does this course entail?

Organic Sketching (first 3 weeks)

Organic Sketching (OS) is a relaxing, natural, and pleasing way to express our concepts, ideas, and dreams into their first visual stages. It was developed by Maggio after realizing most artists had no idea how important sketching is, nor how to sketch with confidence! OSprovides a unique combination of learned skills, observations, amazingly creative techniques, and endlesspractice. You will think and sketch like never before, which is critical because sketching is typically the very first step in almost every genre of art, be it drawing, painting, sculpting, architecture, or design. Unreliable skills make starting a sketch frustrating for some people and can even make the experience of sketching a fearful hurdle! OS is here to help make first sketches exciting, more accurate, and something to look forward to. It’s like confidence in a can! We make it fun and easy to follow.

ART FOUNDATIONS (weeks 4,5,6)

With your newfound natural skills learned in the OS portion, we move on to additional fun and practical skill building exercises, including:
