Class Experience
Become an engineer, problem solver, and filmmaking this week!
In this very special workshop at CinemaKidz, children will invent, plan, build, and document their very own Rube Goldberg Machine! Your child's invention will leap off the page and become a real-life working machine, built purely for the joy of engineering and watching science in action! Kids will work in small groups to make a series of mechanical events that lead to a simple outcome, using a variety or materials including dominoes, wood, plastic tubes, wires, string, cups and more. Campers will have the opportunity to even use real tools including drill guns, hammers and more to build up their apparatus! But what's the fun if no-one can see it happen? Kids will set up a live action camera rigs to record and document the machine in action! Over the course of the camp, campers will document their hard work, and tell their story using video, and create a short documentary about their cool project. Kids can even submit this video to the National Rube Goldberg Competition!
The Week, Campers Will:
- Learn how to document & film a chain reaction
- Craft a playful narrative story around their mechanical contraption, which might include animated elements, spoof-documentar elements and more
- Learn about and explore simple machines & engineering
- Practice cinematography, and editing
Ages: 7 - 13 (broken up by age)
*Interested in multiple weeks of the same theme? CinemaKidz levels up your child's experience with each week of camp taken!
